Peace...

I have been expressing my thoughts for a democratic republic Nepal. I was reading one of the older posts on that blog and had some Nepali news websites open on my browser at the same time. Basically I was seesawing between news and my blog. I realised that my blog posts were not satisfying me. Let me explain.

The blog For a Democratic Republic Nepal was born out of my interest in the country's politics. It did not take too long until I realized that more often than not one or the other political party failed to represent me and my concerns in the way they formulated or executed their programs and policies. Therefore I became keen on expressing my differences and voicing my concerns through that blog. But upon reading news and my blogs at around the same time I felt that hole in my blogs. The blogs were too theoretical, too politico-philosophical. No mention about the scare that people live in. Whether Parmananda Jha resigns or retakes his oath, it will possibly matter little to those who find their house robbed while they were away at work during the day, or those whose child did not come back from school but a phone call from an unknown person claiming to be al-Qaeda Nepal or some Morcha. There was a picture in one of today's news sites showing some armed group displaying lethal weapons while their faces were masked. And this in the middle of the Kathamndu, the seat of the government, the government whose home minister Mr. Bhim Rawal has recently meant that his special program will erase away crime. At the program organized by the Reporter's Club the masked men in combat dresses threatened to carry out suicide attacks if the government executed such special programs. So much to Mr. Rawal's claims.

No point giving in to fear. No point complaining about the home minister. We need to figure out ways to fight this fear. We need to find out ways to solve these problems. Why are the sons of mother Nepal doing things like that? What has gone wrong? Who is responsible and who could hopefully correct things for the better? A quest for a solution is what this blog is going to be about. Once upon a time our country was called a Zone of Peace...Can we refind the peace we had? Can we rediscover the peaceful souls we used to be?

Shall we start hoping we can? This blog is to keep the hope alive and hope that hope transforms itself into action that can reestablish ourselves as a peaceful country.
